The Orion2 Engine Management System is a versatile control system. It can change Pin Layouts to make the most of the hardware I/O available. This will allow for more features in the Orion2. This feature will allow different combinations of Coils and Injectors for different engines. If some of the drivers are not used then they will be available be used as General Purpose outputs.
This feature can become confusing because the wiring connections change positions for different setups in the ECU. This makes it difficult to allocate wire colors on drawings before hand because they may change with different selections. Spitronics addressed this problem by making a Print Pin Layout feature in the software. The installer will do the setup required for the engine according to its components in the software. The software will allocate drivers to each function. This pin layout is saved in the Bios of the ECU. It will not change with Tune/Map loads except the Tune/Map Clone Feature.
The installer can save this Pin Layout to an Excel spreadsheet and place it over a wire color template spreadsheet. This is provided in the Orion2 Documentation. He may then print a hardcopy for his workers so that they can connect the correct wires on each item in the engine. He can print modular wiring diagrams from the documentation and then write the wire colors on the drawings with a pen. This will make the installation easier for workers and prevent wiring errors.
